Fast Facts about Michael & Clay Hancock

  • Providing service to Madison Co. for 18 years
  • Inspection of more than 9,000 properties

Extended History of Michael and the company

In 1969 Michael Hancock took a job as a field auditor on a condominium project. After a few months on the job, the construction manager became ill. The owner asked Michael if he was able to take on the task of completing the job. He took on the task and finished on time and in budget ... and his construction carreer began.

As word spread, he was offered the job of building an apartment complex. Over the next three years, he built 560 units!

From there, he worked for the second largest home builder in Texas (Wayerhauser Corp.) managing all construction related activities. During those 6 years, he was responsible for completing over 6,000 homes.

He was then offered a partnership in a corporation developing multifamily, townhomes and condominiums preperties. During this time, he developed and built more than 1,700 apartments, 230 townhomes and 440 condominiums.

After all of the properties were sold, he ventured into the single-family home building business in Dallas, TX & Huntsville, AL. In 1986 He moved to Huntsville to consolidate his business and built homes in the Huntsville / Madison County areas.

In 1994 he saw the potential for the home inspection industry in Huntsville. He started Michael Hancock Home Inspection and has since sucessfully inspected over 7,000 homes!

As business grew, Michael's son Clay was added to the team and has spent the past three years training on-the-job and through ASHI education.

Now, Clay is a partner in the family-owned business and is as determined as his father to continue the dedication and level of service that his father has provided the area for the past 18 years.
